Service Projects

Service is a very important part of Girl Scouting. We offer the girls the opportunity to earn fun patches for participating in events both at the troop level and at the council level. 

Service projects for the 2012 - 2013 year include:

Since recycling is so important, we will continue this project into the new school year. This will be our pop tab collection for our Ronald McDonald House philanthropy.  See for details. 

Also ongoing will be our  Color Guard service at school.  Our troop is responsible for raising and lowering the flag each day for one week out of every month :)

September - Operation Hurricane Isaac Relief and Girl Scout Council-wide canned food drive benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank

October - Host Service Unit Fish Fry benefiting Girl Scouts' Annual Giving Campaign

November - Collect blankets & towels for the PAWS Animal Shelter

December - Cook dinner for the Ronald McDonald House

January Girl Scout Cookies Gift of Caring

February - Give out medals at finish line of the Mardi Gras Marathon

March - Girl Scouts' Good Will Good Turn Day

April -   Mardi Gras Bead Drive for ARC of New Orleans

May - Cook for the Ronald McDonald House
